Maternal Diet In A Dry Season---How To Get Through It?

As we all know, it’s important for pregnant women to eat a variety of foods to get all nutrients you need and avoid foods that may harm both you and your baby. Growing a baby is a daunting task, the better you eat, the healthier your baby will be. But have you ever thought about the importance of maternal diet at the time of conception? According to a new study, an expectant mom’s diet at the time of conception might cause the lasting changes in the DNA of her children, potentially affecting his or her growth and development.
For many pregnant women, getting through the dry season is as difficult as delivering a baby, because such season may predispose you to dehydration. Most of us consider dehydration to be a summer problem, and it’s often referred to as “water loss from the body”, the longer or warmer the days are, the more you are sweating. What many people don’t realize, however, is that it is just as easy to get dehydrated in the autumn and winter. 

Everyone has heard the advise, “Drinking 8 glasses of water daily can help pregnant women to prevent or relieve symptoms of dehydration, like mouth parched and tongue scorched.” In fact, a healthy maternal diet counts, too. Here are some tips for maternal diet to help you get through the dry season.
  • Fruits 
Packed with essential nutrients and full of fiber, fruits is an indispensable part for pregnant women in their daily diet---especially abundant in the kitchen during the dry reason. Daily fruit consumption can meet the nutritional requirement of you and your growing baby. 
  • Vegetable
Today there is a wide range of vegetables that are sold in the supermarket all year around, so it’s easy for you to buy those you like. The baby relies greatly on mom’s ability to sustain a healthy diet, and vegetables are an integral part of that. Some vegetables contain vitamin C, mineral and trace element, which can help protect your skin from dry season. 
  • Water
Keep you body system hydrated by drinking a lot of water, healthy fluids and juices. A hydrated system is capable of fighting disease in winter. And make sure that you steer away from caffeinated drinks, like coffee, cocoa drink, etc.
  • Whole Grains
Grains is also a good item to include in a maternal diet because it provides essential carbohydrates, your body’s main source of energy. Many whole grains also contains fiber, iron, vitamin B and minerals, which are extremely necessary for the mental health of both the mom and the baby. Eating them in the form of cereal can help mom-to-be stay energized throughout the season.

In addition a healthy diet, some daily activities, like moderate exercise and take some sunshine outside is also an indispensable part of pregnancy.
